To make a long story longer.

One year ago I convinced myself to start a blog. A domain name and a dream was all I could muster—it was as far as my courage would let me go. In the 11 months since, I have found reason after reason against putting my words on a public facing medium—after all, I’m not a writer. You see, twenty-two years ago, I acquired a degree in journalism, but never practiced it because another dream was born.

Jenny Castle has a knack to make a long story longer—spin a story to put a smile on your face. These are the tales of an extraordinarily ordinary life of a dreamer, a feeler, and sometimes make believer. In a little over one month I, Jenny Castle, will turn 45, and age has finally pushed this “late bloomer” into believing that I AM A WRITER—and this is my page.

Football, basketball, and baseball games are entertainment—a way for Americans to unwind. The same gathering of the masses for sporting events have been around since the Colosseum. Hearing all the discussion about Project Marvel has me thinking about the real issue at the core of all sports entertainment—people can’t afford it anymore. Think of professional football games from the 1980’s—rows of good ol’ Americans watching THEIR team, throwing back brewskies, bonding and enjoying life. As San Antonians contemplate the new home for THEIR team (Spurs), we need to consider who the fans are. Spurs fans are die hard, Puro San Antonio, downtown car-honking, silver and black from head to toe folks. Unfortunately, downtown parades and bootlegged Spurs gear are the only affordable options. How much does it cost to attend a game for a group of friends or family? There are ticket costs, parking costs, concessions costs… Too expensive? Consider watching from home…but you may have to upgrade your streaming service to premium if you want to watch highly anticipated games. Sports footage is even blocked for commercial reasons when you watch local news on your phone or tablet. College and Professional sports entertainment has become unattainable for regular folk. I have a marvelous idea, Project Marvel, bring the peoples’ pastime back to the people. Make cheap seats actually cheap and give real people the real opportunity to catch a game. …and just so that I can jab at another ridiculousness happening in our area… Project Marvel, just follow rules 1 and 7–thou shall not build a temple to honor strange gods and thou shall not steal thy honest hard working peoples’ money or pastime.
